The internet has plenty of niches and it seems like there is one for everyone. However, when 2020 threw us a curve ball one community really shown in times of distress. Today we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the beauty world for all it has given back to us during this uncertain time.
Here are four of our favorite things about our favorite niche!
They support each other.
The beauty community is one of the most supportive groups of people on the internet. Though there may be a few tiffs here and there, for the most part, you will find beauty YouTubers hyping each other up both in the comment section and even in their own videos. We love that they cross-promote each other and look for reasons to help other beauty community members succeed. Even if they are competitors, you can’t help but notice the love that is shown amongst the community.
They aren’t afraid to try new things.
We love it when makeup artists and lovers go out on a limb and just totally tackle a look that is WAY out there. Some looks sink and some looks sail but one thing is for certain… the beauty community keeps us guessing. Sometimes, it isn’t even about if a look gets a million likes or just bombs all together. Really, for a lot of us, just watching someone try something different for a while eases our anxiety and whatever happens to be going on in the world at the time. Keep trying new things and taking chances, guys. We love it!
It makes you want to try new things too.
Remember that time that you were afraid of just trying false eyelashes? Suddenly, you have entered the world of beauty videos and just a few months later you went from “hey, let’s just try this once” to “let’s try these peacock feathers hanging off my face!” No matter how the look ends up or where we end up wearing it… even if, in this weird time on the planet, just our living rooms… the beauty community makes us braver.
It gives people confidence.
From Brad Mondo’s “Hey beautiful” intro to just the sheer amount of love that comes off of a beauty-Youtube screen, consistently consuming videos and articles from the beauty universe has a way of boosting confidence. In a world that constantly tells us we aren’t good enough, it feels good to know that total strangers beg to differ.
From the shining stars to those who faithfully upload videos in poor lighing but with great heart, we salute the community of beauty… it really does make the world a more beautiful place in more ways than one.
