Are you touring around and want to find the best lunch Sydney has to offer? Here are some tips for finding you the best lunches in Sydney.
Central Station
The station has a food court, but if you’re looking for something to keep you going all day long, I’d recommend barista coffee which is in the concourse. Also in the concourse is Grill’d burgers and Subway sandwiches. In the South façade, there’s also a sushi cafe with bento boxes, fish and chips, and chicken schnitzels on offer. It can get busy at lunchtime, so be prepared to queue up or risk being turned away!
Town Hall Station – Market City Food Court
Ok, so getting off at Town Hall station for a bite to eat might not seem like an obvious choice, but once inside, it really must be considered one of the best lunch Sydney has to offer. And it’s not just me who thinks this – The Sydney Morning Herald agrees too! Open all day, the Market City Food Court is on level 3 of Town Hall station and offers some of the best food choices in Sydney for lunch. You can enjoy great Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, or Middle-Eastern cuisine for just $10 or less. Cafe Sydney also offers a great menu with dishes like steak sandwiches ($14) and roast chicken caesar salad ($16). Plus, there are plenty of good options for vegetarians too.
World Square Shopping Mall – Eathouse Gourmet Kitchen & Bar
Another public transport option, the Dining Terrace at World Square Shopping Centre, has several restaurants on offer so you can choose to sit down and enjoy a formal meal or grab something quick. Two popular choices here are Tetsuya’s and Guzman Y Gomez, with yummy dishes such as tempura prawn tacos ($16) and burritos ($12).
Australian Technology Park – The Food Store & Canteen
Right next door to Central Station is the Australian Technology Park, where you’ll find The Food Store, an indoor food court. Like Town Hall station, it can get busy at lunchtime but has loads of good options for vegetarians too. There’s also the funky Canteen restaurant within the park if you fancy a cooked meal instead of fast food style options! And don’t miss out on ‘The Shed,’ which is a great spot to eat your lunch and watch what’s going on.
Paddington Town Hall – Food For Thought Cafe
If you’re heading up to the Paddington markets after work, be sure to grab a bite from Food for Thought cafe, which is within the town hall building itself (look out for the bright red sign). They offer everything from wraps and sandwiches to steak and fries plus much more! It gets busy at times, but it’s always well worth the wait when you see what they have on offer.
Parramatta Station – Centre Place
It may not specifically be in Sydney, but Parramatta station has several eateries for hungry commuters that stop in there. The main ones are lined up along the Centre Place plaza near platform 1. The options include Surry Hills’ favorite Eat Fuh noodles, Japanese favorites Wagamama and Yoshinoya, Chinese dumplings at Dumpling Star, or if you’ve had enough of Asian food for one day, there’s also an ice-cream shop!
