Disc Golf is a fun way to get outside and enjoy the outdoors with friends. Disc golf is also an environmentally friendly activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, abilities, and incomes.
Disc Golf has been around for nearly 100 years! Disc golf discs are similar to throwing knives or Frisbees, but they are made of plastic instead of metal (or other material). This makes them lighter and more accessible to throw than regular golf discs.
There are three main things you should know about Disc Golf before playing your first game: 1) It’s not like regular golf; 2) You need at least one partner; 3) The goal is to finish the course in as few throws as possible.
It’s not like regular golf: Disc golf is much less formal and physically demanding than traditional golf. There are no referees, no sand traps, and no water hazards. Disc golf can be played pretty much anywhere there is some open space – in parks, on college campuses, or even in your backyard!
You need at least one partner: Disc golf is typically played as a two-person game, but you can also play by yourself if you want. Many Disc Golf courses have 18 holes specifically designed for solo play.
The goal is to finish the course in as few throws as possible: The object of Disc Golf is to throw your disc into a metal basket that’s been strategically placed at the end of the course. The winner is the winner who finishes the system in the fewest number of throws (or “putts”).
Disc golf can be a lot of fun, but it’s also a very challenging sport. If you’re new to Disc Golf, here are some other things you should know before hitting the course:
You don’t need any expensive equipment: All you need to play Disc Golf is a disc and a partner. While there are all sorts of different discs on the market, most beginners start with a basic putter or midrange disc.
There are no mandatory rules: Unlike other sports like golf or tennis, Disc Golf doesn’t have any mandatory rules – which means that players can make up their game-play variations as they go. This can be a bit daunting for beginners, but it also means that Disc Golf is highly customizable to fit each player’s individual needs.
You don’t have to be in great shape: Disc Golf is a very active sport, but you don’t need to be in great shape to play. Many Disc Golfers consider the exercise they get from playing the game to be one of its biggest benefits.
What are you waiting for now that you know a little more about Disc Golf? Grab your disc and head out to the course! You’re sure to have a blast.
