EAP Providers – Employee Assistance Program

Employee Assistance Program

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a company program designed to help workers recover from an injury or illness. An EAP inherently provides flexible, on-site support ranging from immediate responses to well-being content, such as videos, podcasts, and other interactive programs, for workers who may have trouble functioning on their own. When it comes to the workplace, EAP providers help employers and employees by offering a stress-free and productive work environment, promoting good health and wellness among your workforce. But an EAP can only be effective if it’s properly implemented.

EAP Session

During an EAP session, your human resources (HR) team will assess the needs of your employees. Based on the information gathered, they will develop a customized plan to address your employee’s specific needs. Your HR team can provide specific instructions, or they can simply follow the recommended steps that an employee assistance program provider outlines for you.

Mental Health Counseling

While an employee assistance program typically focuses on providing relief from workplace stress, it’s important to note that it’s not just about work issues. Sometimes, employees may be suffering from mental health issues that go undiagnosed because they are afraid to ask for help. As an employer, the goal of a counseling session is to ensure that your employees receive mental health counseling as soon as possible so that these issues can be addressed before they turn into detrimental patterns.

Psychological Support

Many times, employees need psychological support after an unpleasant or traumatic experience. An employer can provide this by setting up a meeting between the workers and their families. Your HR staff will facilitate the meeting between the workers’ families and the employers. Your representatives can also make sure that all family members are comfortable during the discussion. (Be sure to note if any family members have complaints regarding their mental health-especially if they’ve been experiencing a problem in the past.) This type of mental health screening can also identify problems that might go undiagnosed until later-such as family members who are struggling with alcohol or substance abuse.

EAP Support Programs

After you have screened your employees, it’s time to assess the needs of your company. One common way to target international EAP services is to reach out to your existing customers. Many companies offer their employees assistance with handling their payroll, filing tax returns, or using online transactions. If your company doesn’t already offer these benefits, consider hiring a provider who can add them to your benefits package. For example, some international EAP providers will provide training seminars tailored to your company’s specific needs.
