Everyone is given a limited number of hours in a day. How much we can do with our 24 hours depends on how efficient we are at doing our tasks. It’s not just about doing things faster. It’s also about creating systems that help you do more on a consistent basis. Below are a few examples of this idea in action:
Batch Cooking, we eat several times a day, every single day. It’s a necessity for survival. Cooking as frequently as we’re eating, however, is optional. A lot of people will cook in the morning for both lunch and dinner. You can take this a step further and cook just once or twice for the whole week. This is what batch cooking is all about. Every meal can be divided into individual servings. People can take them out of the refrigerator for heating when it’s time to eat. The same principle can be used for other chores including washing, cleaning, shopping, and so on.
Morning Routine
What would be the ideal start to your days? What would set you up to achieve everything that you need to accomplish? Set up a morning routine that ticks all or most of the boxes. For example, some people like to get their exercise done in the morning so they don’t have to worry about it the rest of the day. This helps them maintain their health and fitness no matter how busy life gets. They also map out their personal hygiene including bathing, shaving, tooth brushing, and so on. Others like to walk their dogs to keep them happy. They might also read books, check emails, or monitor the stock market.
Built-in Breaks
If you don’t schedule you own breaks, then your body will do it for you. You’ll be so tired that you will not be able to stop yourself from falling asleep. You might also suffer from painful eyes, headaches, digestive issues, anxiety, back pain, and other discomforts. Make sure that you get enough sleep during the night so that you can feel fresh and ready to work the next day. You can only be efficient long-term if you are physically and mentally in a good place. Take small breaks every hour to rest your eyes and stretch.
Schedule Distractions
Anticipate distractions throughout the day. If you come across cool videos or interesting sites, then bookmark them for later viewing instead of watching them right away. If you get hit with an exciting idea, then write it down so you won’t forget and go back to your main task. Once you’re done with your job, you can review your notes and your bookmarks.
