Red Ryder Saddles Up Again

When people think of cults, they generally do so in a negative way. Yet when they speak of a cult classic, it is often in an appreciative manner where they refer to a little known gem that more people would enjoy if they actually were aware of its existence.

Such is the case of the 1983 holiday move “A Christmas Story gifts“, which relates the story of an adult as he looks back on a Christmas when he was a mere nine-year-old boy. While it was originally a modest success, it has grown in popularity over the years, and what was once a little known cult favorite has become much more of an actual slice of pop culture itself.

The movie’s plot revolves around the desire of a boy for a very special Christmas present and his trials and tribulations while he waits for the big day to come when he will hopefully realize his dream. Given the increasingly iconic nature of the film and the devotion of its fans, there are obviously a number of movie-related items that would serve as excellent gifts for one of its fans.

The big one, of course, would be a Red Ryder BB gun that serves as the main focus of the film. No fan could fail to appreciate getting one of these fun little items for Christmas, their birthday, or any other holiday including Arbor Day. They would definitely love getting one for any reason whatsoever.

Yet there are other nostalgic items that played prominent roles in the movie. These would also make for very fine types of A Christmas Story gifts. Perhaps they would be perfect for someone who already has their prized BB gun stashed in the closet. In any case, the Little Orphan Annie secret decoder ring would be a great gift for anyone.

It should, of course, be accompanied by some Ovaltine, since the secret message which was decoded in the film was to drink more Ovaltine. His father’s tacky lamp featuring a lady’s leg in fishnet stockings would also bring back memories, assuming one could find a replica. In short, there are a lot of ways to effectively prod the memories of someone who loves the movie.

These are all items that would meet the most important criteria of gift-giving. They would be something that the recipient wants but may not realize, or has forgotten, that he wants. Those are the best, most thoughtful, gifts of all.
