In offices, schools, transport hubs, and commercial establishments, it is often necessary to keep the people informed of pertinent developments. For instance, the school may announce suspension of classes because of the weather so that everyone can go home earlier. Managers can announce an emergency meeting through the PA system so that everyone can come right away. Passengers can be informed of the boarding status of their plane, bus or boat so that they won’t miss their scheduled departure. Commerical ceiling speakers are often used for this purpose. They can fit flush into the ceiling which hides them in plain sight to maintain the aesthetic without compromising their function. Consider the following when planning their installation:
Brand
Be sure to get items from a good brand. There are a lot of speakers out there and some can be incredibly cheap. Yet just because they are affordable doesn’t mean that you should take the deal. There is probably a catch in there somewhere and it usually lies in durability or performance. These products may not last for a long while such that you will have to replace them sooner than you think. You will thus end up spending double instead of simply getting items from a trusted brand to begin with. The performance may also disappoint as cheaper speakers are not known for producing clear sounds. The people may not understand what’s being said, defeating the purpose of the PA system.
Placement
Consult an audio engineer or someone with a similar expertise regarding the proper placement of these speakers. Yes, they are going to be bolted on the ceiling but where exactly should they be placed? How many of them do you need? Ample coverage is necessary to make them effective. Each speaker can only cover a limited area so they should be arranged in an array to provide full coverage of the area. Good design can eliminate blind spots and ensure even distribution across the premises. At the same time, you are able to increase the efficiency of each speaker and only use an optimum number.
Price
Of course, everything will still have to bow down to the budget earmarked for the project. This doesn’t mean that you have to make do with generic products. It is possible to find good commercial speakers at a reasonable cost. Getting a lot of them for the entire premises also assures you of a discount. Large corporations can invite multiple sellers to bid so that they can choose the best deal among those that fit their proposed budget.
