Butt augmentation is also known as a “Brazilian butt lift.” Butt augmentation can be attained by transferring existing fat, through the use of implants or through a combination of both procedures. A butt augmentation surgery is intended to:
• Enhance the balance of your shape
• Increase the projection, fullness and roundness of your butt
• Boost your self-confidence and self-image
This type of surgery is ideal for individuals who are looking to balance their body or those who are not pleased with the shape of their butt.
The cosmetic surgeon will select between a variety of techniques and incision patterns. The most suitable technique for you will be determined largely by:
• Your activity level and goals
• Size and shape of your butt
• The amount of extra skin
• The amount of available fat that can be accessed via liposuction
• Elasticity and skin quality
During the surgical procedure, medications are administered to ensure the comfort of the patient. The options include general anesthesia and intravenous sedation. Your surgeon will make recommendations regarding the best option for you. Regardless of the type of procedure you are undergoing, anesthesia will be administered to ensure your comfort.
Procedure
Step 1
Making the Incision
Your surgeon will make an incision that can be made toward the bottom in the gluteal creases. Alternatively, the incision could be made toward the top of the two sides of the upper part of the butt (the parts where the “cheeks” and the top of the thighs meet). There is also the option of making a hidden incision between the crease of both cheeks or with an incision placed down the middle of the sacrum, which is the crease between the butt “cheeks.” The size of the incision is related directly to the areas affected.
Step 2
Placement of the Implant
A specially-made silicone implant is inserted above the gluteal muscle or in the muscle on both sides. The insertion method and positioning of the implants will depend on the kind of implant, your body type, degree of desired enlargement and the recommendations of your surgeon.
Step 3
Closing the Incisions
Layered sutures, surgical tape or skin adhesive is used to close the incisions.
Step 4
Seeing the Results
The results of the procedures can be seen immediately. Post-surgical swelling will eventually disappear and the incision lines will fade away. There should be increased contentment with your new image as you recover and achieve your goal of having a fuller butt. The results of the butt augmentation procedure is permanent.
