Everyone should have at least one cooler. You will need a cooler if you are planning a trip to the beach, a picnic or if you are going to an outdoor gathering. Whether you are planning to bring sodas and waters or alcoholic beverages, you will need a cooler to keep your drinks cold.
When you are looking for a cooler to buy, the first thing you need to decide is if you are going to buy a soft cooler or a hard cooler. If you want to buy the cooler with the most benefits, soft is the way to go.
1 Lightweight
If you are going to be carrying your cooler a relatively long distance from the car to your destination, you want something lightweight. You will already be carrying the weight of the drinks and ice that you packed, so you don’t want any extra weight. Hard coolers will keep your drinks cold, but they add a lot of extra weight. If you want the lightest option, you are better off going with a soft one.
2 Carrying Strap
As mentioned above, you want your cooler to be as easy to carry as possible. Hard coolers have handles, but they aren’t that easy to carry if you are alone. Most larger hard coolers require two people to carry them. If you are alone or have nobody with a free hand to help carry your cooler, you are going to have problems.
Many soft coolers have a strap, which would allow you to carry the cooler over your shoulder, making it easy to carry your cooler from point A to point B.
3 Easy Storage
If you live in a small home without much room for storage, a hard cooler might not be the best idea. If you have a large cooler, you are going to need a relatively large place to store it. Soft coolers can be folded up easily, which is great if you have limited storage space.
4 Water-Proof
If you are on a boat and your hard cooler falls into the water, your drinks and any food that you have packed will be ruined because they aren’t water-proof. If you choose to buy a soft cooler, you will be able to buy one that is 100 percent water-proof, which will protect the contents if an accident were to happen.
Shopping for a cooler isn’t rocket science, but if you want a cooler with the most benefits, soft is the way to go.
