HCPS Standards establish the expectations for what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. These standards were developed with input from teachers, parents, and community members to ensure that all students in HCPS are college and career ready. Social Studies
The social studies standards focus on history, geography, economics, and civics. Students are expected to be able to understand and use key concepts and principles in these subject areas. Additionally, these standards emphasize the importance of using technology to research, analyze, and communicate about social studies topics.
Physical Education Standards
The physical education standards focus on developing students’ physical literacy. Students are expected to be able to demonstrate their understanding of movement concepts and skills. They should also be able to apply these concepts and skills in a variety of physical activity contexts. Additionally, these standards emphasize the importance of using technology to monitor and improve one’s own physical activity level.
World Languages.
The world languages standards focus on developing students’ ability to communicate in a second language. Students are expected to be able to use the language for practical purposes, such as communicating with native speakers and completing real-world tasks. Additionally, these standards emphasize using technology to facilitate communication in the second language.
